Built for decks that get full sun

Every composite board warms up in the sun, and dark colors warm up most. Trex engineered the Lineage shell with heat-mitigating technology that reflects sunlight, and states that the boards stay cooler than other composite decking of a similar color. On a south or west-facing deck with no tree cover, which describes many new-build rear decks in Montgomery County and Northern Virginia, that is the difference between a deck you use at 4 pm in July and one you avoid.

The palette

Lineage colors lean light and weathered: Rainier and Salt Flat are grays, Biscayne and Island Mist are sandy, Carmel and Hatteras are mid browns, and Jasper is the deep mocha. Light colors pair well with the heat-reducing shell. Order samples and look at them outside, at the time of day you use the deck.

Recycled content and warranty

Trex reports Lineage is made from 95% recycled and reclaimed material, the same recycled plastic film and sawdust as other Trex boards, which is why it also appears under eco decking. It carries Trex's 50-year limited residential fade and stain warranty, twice the term of Trex Enhance.

Where it fits the budget

Lineage costs more per board than Enhance. On a deck of any size, the board is only part of the price: framing, footings, railings and stairs often cost as much as the decking.
