What Marmoleum is made of
According to Forbo, Marmoleum is made from 97% natural raw materials, 72% rapidly renewable and 43% recycled content. The main ingredients are linseed oil from flax seed, pine rosin, wood flour and a jute backing. It contains no phthalates, plasticizers or mineral oil. It is not vinyl, even though both are called "resilient" flooring.
Two click formats
Marmoleum Cinch Loc Seal panels measure 12 x 36 inches and Marmoleum Cinch Loc Seal squares measure 12 x 12 inches. Both lock together with the same Välinge system, so you can mix them into borders, checkerboards and stripes.
Where it fits
Kitchens, laundry rooms, kids' rooms and home offices. It suits the mid-century houses in Silver Spring, Wheaton and Falls Church, where linoleum may have been the original floor. Over concrete or radiant heat, Forbo requires a vapor barrier, which we include in every slab installation.
A note on delivery color
New linoleum can arrive with a yellowish cast called "drying room film," caused by the linseed oil. It fades on exposure to light, usually within a day or so. Samples show the true color.

Common questions
What is the difference between linoleum and vinyl?
Linoleum is made mainly from linseed oil, rosin and wood flour on a jute backing. Vinyl is made from PVC. They look similar but are chemically unrelated.
Is Marmoleum Cinch Loc Seal waterproof?
Forbo describes the Seal core as waterproof. As with any click floor, dry standing water promptly and seal the perimeter in bathrooms.
