Maple, drawn plainly

Mokuzai is Japanese for timber, and Mannington describes the pattern as capturing the minimal refinement of Japanese maple design: 10 hand-sawn plank visuals with an oiled look and painted bevels. The figure is drawn at a large scale, so an 8 inch plank reads as one board rather than a busy print. Sapling, shown here, is a soft tan; Mannington also lists Raw Timber, Autumn Leaf and Twig.

Rooms where it works

A quiet maple suits modern rooms with plain walls and simple furniture, and it keeps a small room from feeling crowded. Mokuzai carries Microban surface protection, ScratchResist and Mannington's fade and stain resistance claim over the waterproof HydroLoc WPC core, so it also handles a kitchen or a mudroom.

Being straight about materials

Mokuzai is luxury vinyl and contains PVC. We list it with its FloorScore emissions certification and the plain facts: made in Vietnam, no recycled content on Mannington's sheet.
